The RNAA Commonwealth Scholar Competition

Become an RNAA Commonwealth Scholar at RASC 2026 – the 31st Commonwealth Agriculture Conference, taking place 1 – 5 November 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Who Can Apply

You’re eligible to apply for the RNAA Commonwealth Scholar Competition, supported by the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association Opportunities Fund, if you:

  • Work, study, or live in Norfolk
  • Are under 40 years old
  • Are involved in the agricultural industry
  • Have not previously attended a Commonwealth Agriculture Conference

About the Bursary

The RNAA will award three bursaries to Next Generation (NG) individuals to attend the 5-day event at the Century City Conference Centre, Cape Town.
The conference will feature world-class speakers, panels, and sessions, exploring both the challenges and successes of agriculture across the Commonwealth.

Conference Programme

  • Welcome Cocktail: Sunday 1 November 2026
  • Next Generation Conference: Monday 2 – Tuesday 3 November (AM)
  • Main Conference: Tuesday 3 – Thursday 5 November 2026

 

Bursary Package

Each bursary includes:

  • Full access to the 5-day conference programme (with lunch and dinner)
  • Return flights from the UK to Cape Town
  • Airport transfers
  • 4 nights’ B&B accommodation nearby

How to Apply

Submit your Expression of Interest using the RNAA application form (attached or available on the RNAA website).
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview to select the final three Scholars.

Optional Pre-Conference Tour (Self-Funded)

Extend your trip with the Pre-Conference Tour to Stellenbosch (29–31 October 2026).
Experience innovative farming across the Winelands, West Coast, and Swartland, hosted by award-winning farmers.

Tour includes:

  • 4 nights’ accommodation (28–31 October 2026)
  • Breakfast, lunch, transport, and transfer to the main conference hotel

Cost:

  • Single delegate: R 24,347.82
  • Shared delegate: R 19,130.43
    (Payable in South African Rand – not covered by the RNAA bursary)

Additional Details

Successful applicants must:

  • Be or become RNAA Next Generation Members
  • Support RNAA marketing before and after the event by sharing their experiences
  • Join the RNAA Alumni Network
