Obituary: Alan Alston

It is with much regret that we are writing to you to inform you that Alan Alston passed peacefully at his home.

Alan was an RNAA Honorary Vice President and served as steward and Head Steward for the Royal Norfolk Show for over 50 years. He was Head Steward of Small Livestock, Goats and the New Ideas Machinery competition and stand.

Alan joined his father to farm at Park farm, Silfield, Wymondham after school in Norwich and National Service in Korea, and continued farming there his whole life, later with his son James.

He always took a keen interest in developments in arable machinery and stepped in to help after the untimely death of his older brother, Willy Alston, father of Henry and Robert, advising on the arable side of the farm at Billockby.

His presence will be missed at the Royal Norfolk Show and other RNAA events. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ann, and James, Marion and their families.

Due to restrictions, a private family funeral will take place on Thursday, April 15th at 11 a.m. at Fairland United Reformed Church, Wymondham. Family flowers only please, but donations may be made directly to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
